Dr. Cao’s church community, equally as important, leads her to be an active member of her home church, Mary Queen of Vietnam and led her to be a board member for the MQVN CDC (Mary Queen of Vietnam Church, Community Development Corporations, Inc.), a non-profit organization helping to rebuild and restore the eastern New Orleans Vietnamese community devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Dr. Deborah Yim

Dr. Deborah Yim

Dr. Deborah Yim was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the north suburbs of the city. After high school she wanted to venture out, move somewhere new, and up at Tulane University in New Orleans. She graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology, and minors in French and Business. Dr. Yim always had an interest in health sciences, and went on to pursue dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During the summers in college and dental school, Dr. Yim went on mission trips to Mexico to provide dentistry to underserved communities. Throughout these trips she worked closely with children and discovered her love for working with kids, and recognizing the true need. Her mom made it a commitment to herself to go on a service trip every year, and now that Dr. Yim is finished with all her years of schooling, she hopes to join her mom in these trips. After graduating dental school in 2016, Dr. Yim returned to New Orleans! She pursued her post-graduate education in pediatric dentistry at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry and Children’s Hospital New Orleans. She graduated from LSU in 2018 with her Masters in Dental Science and certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.

In her free time, Dr. Yim loves to eat, travel, workout, and go fishing! She’s thankful to live in a city with an exciting culinary scene. To balance out all the eating she enjoys working out and running. She recently began powerlifting and has participated in a few competitions. When she’s not trying a new restaurant or at the gym, she’s usually traveling or fishing. After finishing residency, Dr. Yim just wasn’t ready to leave New Orleans and is thrilled for the opportunity to work with Dr. Cao and Dr. Richardson at Smile Bright Pediatric Dental Care. She is very excited to provide care to and join the New Orleans community! Dr. Yim is also a member of the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Dental Association.
